Deepfake >
Deepfake essentially stands for "deep learning" and "fake". It is commonly understood as manipulated video or computer-generated face swap, but it is way more than that. Deepfake specifically refers to synthetic media(video, audio, image) that have been created through machine learning and Artificial intelligence techniques, seemingly blurring the boundary between reality and artifice.
Intention >
The critical lens is in the perspective of corporations selling Deepfake technology, as a metaphor for people producing and profiting from Deepfake nowadays. The audience would be buyers, so I tried my best to make the website and the video convincing and realistic. The tone is a bit dark and scary due to my horrible taste in music and editing skills. It was meant to be informative and sarcastic to warn us about the danger of Deepfake.
Future Inprovement>
If I have more time, I might make another version of this “DeepFacade” software that is set in the present time, when Deepfakes are still illegal. I would print out multiple fliers or stickers with QR codes on them, which would link to a sketchy website selling “DeepFacade 2022”
